Best Lunch for Adults in Disney – Sanaa
Best lunch for Adults in Disney – Sanaa
Our favorite lunch spot for Adults in Disney is a bit out of the way, but definitely worth the trip! Sanaa is located at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Resort – Kidani Village. Sanaa serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, but we often will go for lunch. Sanaa tends to be relatively quiet during lunch time. Doing a sit-down restaurant for lunch is especially nice in the summer because it gives us a much-needed break from the Florida heat. This restaurant has a relatively adventurous menu that is great for adults. Most of the dishes have flavors that pull in African and Indian spices. Depending on your seat, you may also have a view of safari animals walking around the resort. All of these things make Sanaa the perfect location for a lunch date or for a lunch with a group!
Why is this our favorite lunch spot?
The food, particularly the bread service, is amazing. This restaurant also has really great options for vegetarians. Scroll down to see more details and recommendations about the food and drinks at Sanaa.
There are usually a lot of reservation time options for Sanaa, even last minute. You can also walk-up and eat and drink the full menu in the bar area. Just be aware that the bar area is first-come first-serve seating. While the overall atmosphere of Sanaa is nothing spectacular, unless you get a savanna view, we often enjoy the quiet break that it provides. Our experience with the cast members and servers has also been very good.
Our suggestions for visiting
While we really enjoy Sanaa, we would only recommend going here if you have a long Disney trip or if you come down somewhat regularly. Getting to the restaurant takes a bit of time, so you will have to decide whether it is worth missing the time at the theme parks. If you are staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge or if you have some time in your schedule for relaxing lunches, then definitely give it a try.
Making a reservation at Sanaa for lunch is recommended. A reservation can usually be made last minute, but it is important because it will ensure that your trip there will be worth it with a guaranteed table. If it is your first visit to Sanaa, ask for a window seat when you arrive. If available, it will give you the best view of the savanna. We also strongly recommend the Indian-style Bread Service with all Nine Accompaniments.
Our recommended food and drinks
Are you sick of hearing about the bread service yet? Seriously though, get the Indian-style Bread Service with all Nine Accompaniments. It is great to share. We will often get one bread service for the two of us, just be warned that it is easy to fill up on. If you’re not that hungry, sit at the bar, have a couple drinks, and split a bread service.
As for entrees, there is a pretty good variety. One of us will often get the Potjie Inspired option. We like that you can pick from the various dishes offered. The options are all good, but for us it is not as outstanding as the bread service. The main downside of this entree option is that we feel it is a bit pricey for what you get. At times, we will order a bread service and then split an entree and it is more than enough food. We always fill up on bread and entrees, so sadly haven’t yet gotten any of the desserts.
The mixed drinks listed on the menu at Sanaa are nothing spectacular. Sanaa has a full bar, so the bartender should be able to make anything that you request. Of the mixed drinks currently listed, the African Starr Mojito is a good option if you are a fan of mojitos. Sara is a big fan of mojitos. If you are a beer drinker, we recommend trying the African beer options, particularly the Tusker Premium Lager.
Things to be aware of
Disney describes Sanaa as “African cooking with Indian flavors.” If you do not care for Indian food and spices, Sanaa may not be for you. The mixed-drink options also need some improvements. Lastly, as we mentioned above, to get to this resort, you will have to take a Disney Resort bus to the Animal Kingdom Lodge or a MinnieVan/Uber/Lyft. This is one of the biggest downsides to this restaurant.
Our Overall Recommendation
We highly recommend Sanaa for a delicious and relaxing lunch at Disney World. While the food and atmosphere at Sanaa is really good, the restaurant is a bit out of the way. If you have a shorter trip or if you don’t like a lot of spices with your food, we would skip Sanaa. But if you have a at least a few days at Disney, we suggest checking it out.
